Ivan Apaolaza Sancho fait face à une déportation vers l’Espagne par le Canada. Là-bas, il risque une détention « incommunicado », la torture et un procès injuste. On lui refuse le droit d’asile au Canada. Pendant sa lutte contre la déportation, Ivan a été détenu sans procès au Centre de détention de Rivière-des-Prairies à Montréal, et ce, depuis le mois de juin 2007. Et tout ceci justifié sur la base d’informations elles-mêmes obtenues par la torture.

Le 24 septembre, ses avocats étaient en cour pour demander qu’il soit libéré de prison et le défendre contre cette menace de déportation. Dehors, un action en appui …

Ceci était la deuxième action créative à se tenir à Montréal à l’automne 2008 pour mettre sur la place publique la complicité canadienne dans la torture, et ce, au nom de la soi-disant sécurité nationale. Chaque action fait la lumière sur différents cas de torture dans lesquels le Canada est complice.

The Ste Emilie Skillshare has incredible news! We’ve totally revolutionized our volunteer structure and we would love to find the right position for YOU!!!

You see, at Ste Em we’re constantly in need of others to work with us in fixing up our space whether that means:
-a variety of carpentry and building jobs
-electrical work
-plumbing
-making beautiful artwork to cover walls

We also are always looking for folks who are interested in DIY culture to work on projects such as:
-silk screening t-shirts & posters for community groups
-creating zines to raise public awareness
-organizing and holding fun, political events for the community

Don’t worry if you don’t know how to do any of these things-this is the perfect way to learn in the most hands on way possible! Volunteering at Ste Emilie is a fabulous way to get involved in the Skillshare as well as social justice work in Montreal.

The 2110 Center for Gender advocacy invites you to join us on a tour of feminist art galleries and spaces in Montreal and engage in discussions with local artists and activists as we explore the importance of critical transformations of art spaces, institutions, and the mandates that guide them.

Whisper translation will be available. We will navigate the tour by bus/metro/walk/bike.

Organized as part of La Centrale‘s GENDER ALARM! exhibition programming.
GENDER ALARM! Nouveaux féminismes en art actuel is an event series organized by La Centrale Galerie Powerhouse in celebration of the launch of our new mandate. GENDER ALARM! will feature a group exhibition and performance night, a film and video screening, as well as a round-table panel discussion. GENDER ALARM! will focus on the role of emerging feminist discourses within contemporary art and will mark the beginning of La Centrale’s 2008-2009 programming season featuring bold exhibitions and performances that specifically address the new mandate.
